Author Biography

Jane Groufsky, Tāmaki Paenga Hira | Auckland War Memorial Museum

Jane Groufsky is curator for social history at Tāmaki Herenga Waka | Auckland War Memorial Museum, where she co-curated Tāmaki Herenga Waka: Stories of Auckland, a major permanent exhibition of the people and stories of Auckland. Her research focuses on a social historical reading of printed and patterned textiles in Aotearoa and how these reflect changing cultural values and self-perception. Jane is a featured expert on TVNZ’s popular history programme National Treasures. In 2020 she was awarded the Clark Collection scholarship to attend the Attingham Summer School, and she is on the board of Objectspace gallery. In 2024, she co-curated Margery Blackman: Weaving, Life at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
